BLACKPINK is the fourth girl group formed by YG Entertainment. This company is famous for the swag music and unique artists, so it’s no surprise that BLACKPINK also gives the swag vibe in their music!
The members consist of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. All of them are Korean, except Lisa who is a Thai and the first foreign artist in this company.
The members have a diverse background in culture. Rosé was born in New Zealand and grew up in Australia (she has two citizenships!), meanwhile, Jennie spent her childhood in New Zealand. With this background, BLACKPINK becomes one of the Korean group that can communicate with their international fans well.
Their activities as a girl group are mostly in South Korea, Japan, and the US! They are also involved in MC-ing, appearing in Korean variety shows as a guest and/or host, and modeling – either joining international fashion weeks or being a representative of specific companies. One of the member, Jisoo, also has taken a part in two dramas on 2015 and 2017.
Up to 2019, they have released 13 songs, 1 collaborated song with Dua Lipa (English singer), and covered 2 songs (+1 dance cover) which they posted in their Youtube channel:

Despite the fact that they debuted on 8th August 2016 and does not have a lot of songs, they have one of the largest fans-base that are very loyal to stream their MV very very hard (all their MVs has more than 150M views). Their Youtube channel has more than 23M subscriber and their monthly listener in Spotify is more than 15M.
The song DDU-DU DDU-DU has been streamed more than 765M on Youtube. It also peaked at #55 on Billboard Hot 100 on 30th June 2018. In the same day, their first mini album ranked at #40 on Billboard 200 and peaked at #1 World Albums. This breaks their own record in which Square Two peaked as #2 World Albums on 26th November 2016. You can see the list of their achievements and awards here.

Jennie released her single titled SOLO which gets a lot of success with more than 15M views in 24 hours after it was posted on Youtube. Other solo tracks from other members will also be released after this, based on the information of the executive producer of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk.
Before debuting with BLACKPINK, Jennie and Rosé have been featured in the songs of other artists in the same company such as:
- Without You by G-Dragon feat. Rosé (September 2012)
- Special by Lee Hi feat. Jennie (March 2013)
- GG Be by Seungri feat. Jennie (August 2013)
- Black by G-Dragon feat. Jennie (September 2013)
Another side about Blackpink, they haven’t created lyrics, composed or produced their own songs, unlike other YG Entertainment artists. TEDDY from The Blacklabel (sub-company of YG Entertainment) is the man behind all Blackpink songs.
If you enjoy watching Blackpink, I will suggest looking for their own show, Blackpink House, Blackpink Diaries, and other variety shows that they have appeared (the shows do not always include four of them). I mostly enjoy when they were in Running Man, Knowing Brothers, Weekly Idol, Idol Room, and Amazing Saturday.
